TL+ED: Thy Unsus

Prologue – Stranded in Another World

In a certain city, in a certain high school, there existed a student designated as the standard bullied kid.

That said, there was no scribbles on his desk, no hiding of his supplies, no kicking and hitting—no physical and common bullying such as that. If he was to receive anything like that, it would be being excluded and not being talked to.

In other words—mental bullying was inflicted on the student. Each and every day, that student was subjected to the disgust of his classmates and upperclassmen—even the teachers hated him. He had neither ally nor friend.

Many such bullyings occurred under those kinds of circumstances. No person dared called themselves an ally to that student.

But even in the face of the bullying, the student still attended school each and every day. What’s more, earlier than anyone else.

He had no plans for revenge—nothing like that. The reason in itself was because he was an extremely diligent student, and a very common one at that.

———The perfect attendance rewards sure does sound nice, doesn’t it? That’s all I need.

For that reason and that reason alone, he came to school from when he entered it two years ago all the way until now. He continued commuting to and from school.

As though he wasn’t being bullied at all.

“Ahh… Today a transfer student will be introduced.”

Having spent each day like that, the student progressed to his third year, and immediately following that a transfer student came to his class.

The middle-aged teacher, who had a listless atmosphere and seemed like a mustache would fit him, wrote their name on the blackboard and the student, presumably waiting outside, entered the classroom.

The name written on the blackboard was『Shiori Shinozaki』.

As might be guessed from their name, the transfer student who entered was dressed in a girl’s uniform. Black hair long enough to reach her shoulder blades, drooping but perfect eyes, a smiling face brimming with curiosity; she was a student who fit the term “beautiful girl” to a T.

As proof of that, nearly all the boys in the class were captivated by her friendly face, and the girls were whispering “she’s cute” to their nearby friends.

She’s pretty cute.

And the bullied kid thought so too, with a thin smile on his face.

Shiori Shinozaki, the girl who came in, looked around the classroom to see her classmates’ faces, and then bowed her head and energetically introduced herself.

“I’m Shiori Shinozaki, I transferred here because of my parent’s work! I hope we can get along from now on!”

Her self introduction was as short as that. Yet her smiling face and piercing voice fascinated most of the class.

Everyone in the classroom was captivated by her smiling face as she raised her head, and soon a silence fell. A short time after, she was met with applause and cheers.

“Ah, now now, calm down… let’s save the questions for later. Now then, let’s see, Shinozaki, your seat will be… Tsk… next to Naginata.”

“Umm, ah, there. That vacant seat!”

Dating the annoying applause from the excited students for later, the teacher told her where her seat was.

Naginata was the bullied kid’s surname. Shiori Shinozaki put her hand on her forehead as though she was peering at something distant, and saw the bullied kid’s seat and her seat, which the bullied kid had set there yesterday.

Then came a complete about-face from the previous cheerful air; dissatisfied with the fact that her seat neighbor was the bullied kid, all eyes in the classroom gathered on the bullied kid as if to shoot through him. At the same time, they regretted their actions from yesterday, “if only we hadn’t forced the job of carrying the transfer student’s desk on him.”

But they had no right to regret it.

She walked in the midst of the complex gazes and sat down in the seat in the very back row by the window, right next to the bullied kid sitting second from the window in the very back row.

“Umm, I’m Shiori Shinozaki. Nice to meet you!”

She then immediately greeted the bullied kid sitting next to her with a friendly smile. Naturally, the class’ gazes all fell on the boy. As though to not allow the two to make friends.

But the boy remained indifferent to the gazes, and returned the greeting with a thin smile on his face.

“My name is Kitsune Naginata. Other than aiming for the perfect attendance award, I’m just an ordinary highschool boy with no special personality.”

His classmates averted their gazes as though they were looking at something horrid.

Two weeks had passed since then.

Shiori Shinozaki, the transfer student, had already made her place in those two weeks and become a central figure in the class.

Many people of either gender gathered around her when there was a break, and she was invited to play every day after school. Someone like that would be an envied person.

Moreover, the number of times she was confessed to was in no small number due to her cute appearance and friendly personality. However, she wasn’t going out with someone yet.

“Morning, Kitsune-san!”

“Morning, Shiori-chan. I see you’re energetic today, too. Don’t you ever get tired?”

“Ahaha! Bitter as ever.”

Meanwhile, the two neighbors were exchanging greetings like this every day.

The boy——Kitsune was usually referred to by his surroundings as『Kitsune』, spelled in hiragana. It came from a combination of his elusiveness and the foxes (kitsune) that enchanted humans in folklore.

Shiori also similarly called him that, but due to being a transfer student she misunderstood it as a nickname rather than its original meaning as an insult, and had come to call him that like the surroundings.

But that merely served as a trigger, and now she was calling him by it as his real name.

“Did you do today’s homework? If you forgot the math teacher’s homework, they’ll be real tough on you for it!”

“I did it. The answers were all 2x.”

“Geez, there’s no way that’s——you really wrote 2x for all of them!?”

Silly exchanges like that were commonplace.

But unlike the other students, Kitsune thought that this girl who was friendly to him was a little special.

That said, he wasn’t in love or anything like that. She was more of a friendly chatting partner than his sole friend.

And, Kitsune was a little special for Shiori, too.

She knew that he was being bullyed from the attitude from the surroundings towards him. There had been students being bullied at her old school before she changed schools, too, and she had consulted with them.

However, Kitsune was different from the bullied kids she knew. Despite being bullied, he didn’t look hurt but rather was always smiling as though he wasn’t being bullied to begin with.

And with him being contrary to Shiori’s knowledge, it made him feel a little special to her.

“Ah, come to think of it, don’t you live next to the house I moved into?”

“Actually, I am pretty sure some strangers moved into the house next to mine.”

“I’m positive I saw you coming out the door a few days back!”

“I see, I guess my house really is next to yours then.”

Shiori chatted with Kitsune with a sunflower-like smile. Her expression made it seem like she was really enjoying herself and was the complete opposite of Kitsune’s thin smile. Shiori had a really relaxed attitude towards him.

“So, how about we go home together starting today? We can commute together, too, if you want!”

“Sure, who wouldn’t want to go to and from school with a beautiful girl? Cry away, men of the world.”

“B-Beautiful girl… jeez, you’re embarrassing me.”

Shiori hid her face with both hands while her cheeks dyed red.

The men of the class were once again rooted to the spot by her appearance. And at the same time, those men sent gazes of jealousy and scorn at Kitsune, and the talking behind his back grew even worse.

Naturally, Shiori had heard about the bad rumors surrounding Kitsune, too, and had even been told that it would be better to not get close to him.

But Shiori ignored those warnings and walked alongside Kitsune. That fact also irritated the surroundings. Nevertheless, the target of that irritation was never Shiori but always Kitsune.

It did not take long before the two were gradually isolated from the class.

Three months had passed since Shiori changed schools.

The two’s relationship had deepened to the point where they could call the other a best friend rather than seat buddy. They went to and from school together, and between lunch and breaks, they spent nearly all day together.

Even outside of school, Shiori gave Kitsune a kitsune max on his birthday, and on hers he gave her a bookmark as a pun on her name; the two often went out to play together.

Are they already dating? That sort of rumor was floating around in the surroundings, but for Kitsune and Shiori, every day was fun and they were happy. They were cut off in class, but they still felt they were having the best school life.

However, the two’s happiness as they spent every day like that did not last long.

That day, Kitsune got a fever.

Aiming for the perfect attendance reward, Kitsune pretended to be tough “I can’t make her worry more than that”, and headed to school with Shiori like he always did. Shiori, being his best friend, quickly noticed that Kitsune was worse for wear. However, she did not stop him as Kitsune’s only interest was the perfect attendance award.

If I think it’s getting dangerous, then I’ll take him home even if I have to use force, she thought.

“Are you all right, Kitsune-san?”

“I’m fine. I’m healthy, it’s not like my fever’s 38C, and I don’t feel cold or nauseous. So, there’s no reason for me not to go to school,” Kitsune said, deflecting Shiori’s worried remarks as he opened his shoe box.

“—!”

There was a letter in his shoe box. Kitsune had enough of an understanding of the situation laid before him that he didn’t make the mistake of assuming it to be a love letter. He knew it was definitely not a good and lengthy letter.

“What’s wrong?”

“No, it’s nothing.”

However, he hesitated in telling Shiori.

Kitsune took out his indoor shoes as though nothing had happened and slipped the letter into his pocket in a way that Shiori wouldn’t see it. He then waltzed into the class like he always did, and sat in his seat. Shiori, tilting her head in confusion, sat next to him and continued.

“…Are you sure you’re not pushing it?”

“I’ve never pushed myself in my life.”

Class soon started.

The middle-aged teacher began teaching the lesson as usual, and the students quietly opened their notebooks. Some people were whispering to each other, but time passed relatively quietly like always.

It was then that Kitsune took out the letter from his pocket and opened it. The contents were as follows:

『After school today, come to the gym warehouse alone. You’ll die if you don’t. 』

The letter exemplified one truth: despite having never before used violence on him until now, they finally planned to.

Kitsune stared silently at the letter for a while, and then rolled it up and returned it to his pocket.

Looks like today just isn’t my day. Actually, maybe I’m cursed or something? Kitsune muttered in his heart as if to make light of the situation, and opened his notes after a short sigh.

And thus the unfortunate time soon came—it was after school before he knew it.

Kitsune tried to go home with Shiori like usual but noticed that Shiori was not next to him. He tried looking for where she went, but he still couldn’t find her. Usually, Shiori would let him know if she was going somewhere, but Kitsune hadn’t heard anything this time.

He had a slightly bad premonition. And, he happened to know why.

“…You don’t think…”

Though coughing and unsteady on his feet, he headed to the place with a slightly quick pace—that place being the appointed place written in the letter he had received in the morning.

That’s right—the gym warehouse.

“…I’m coming i~n.”

The gym warehouse was opposite of the entrance, right next to the exit leading to the grounds, so it did not take him long to get there.

He peeked a bit inside, but gained no information. There was no point in waiting outside, so he entered without hesitation… and upon doing so, sure enough, Shiori was in there.

However—her limbs were bound with jump rope, her mouth was blocked with packing tape, and her body was being touched freely by three of her classmates.

“…That’s one unusual appearance you got there, huh, Shiori-chan?”

“Mm—!”

Her sailor uniform had been torn to pieces and cast aside, so her upper body was nearly nude. The only thing covering her skin was her bra. The skirt she was wearing was also torn, so parts of her pink underwear could be seen here and there.

And the three boys were touching her breasts and ass as they pleased while she was in this sorrowful state. Their hands moved around Shiori’s body, and Shiori squirmed, resisting each time.

“Hahaha…so you’ve finally come… Hey, Kitsune—! You’ve been friends with Shinozaki ever since she transferred schools, y’know? It’s pissin’ us off. So I’ll have to educate you so you don’t ever get close to her again.”

“No, umm… who are you? Well, Boy A-kun whose name I don’t know… Your male jealousy is quite unsightly, you know?”

“Ah? Jealousy? Shinozaki said that I can have her since you don’t fit her.”

“Mmm—!”

While listening to Kitsune and the mastermind student talk, Shiori yelled at Kitsune to escape.

He had a 38C fever, a cold and nausea yet he was still acting as usual—that was not normal. His condition would surely worsen unless he rested, and she couldn’t imagine what would happen if he was attacked now. Normally, a person would be resting right now.

Furthermore, no matter what kind of experience she would face, Shiori didn’t want to see Kitsune get injured. For her, Kitsune was her only best friend at this school.

But contrary to Shiori’s wish, the situation kept on going.

“I see, so this is that desire-to-monopolize thing… Well, that’s typical of human beings. But, as Shiori-chan’s best friend, I absolutely will not overlook her being raped.”

“Ah? So you’re resisting? Wonderfu~l. ‘I’ll protect Shiori-chan’, was it? Hahaha! Get him, you guys.”

“Hehehe…”

“I’ve wanted to punch this guy for a while now.”

At the instruction of the male student—presumably the main offender, the two boys approached Kitsune. Shiori raised her voice even more in an attempt to stop them, but it only came out as muffled noise due to the packing tape.

“Hey now, getting excited is fine and all, but don’t get so angry. Why don’t we calm down and have a chat instead?” Kitsune said towards the approaching men, a thin smile on his face.

The two boys had no intent on stopping no matter what he said—yet their legs froze at his creepy smiling face. Even though they had an overwhelming advantage, their legs refused to move.

What they were currently feeling——was fear.

What’s more, that vague feeling of terror wasn’t coming from the boy in front of them—it was continuously welling up from deep within their hearts, warning them that proceeding any further was dangerous.

They couldn’t even tell what it was they were fearing now.

“So…what did you say? You wanted Shiori-chan, if I remember correctly? Well? There’s three of you, but once you’ve killed me, do you plan on killing amongst yourselves next? Or maybe you’re all best friends, so all three of you will love her! …But did you actually plan on that?”

Kitsune took a step forward.

“Ahaha, it’s kinda funny. No, it really is amusing…so laughable I think I might vomit. Hey, listen up, will you?” saying so, Kitsune took yet another step.

The two boys retreated against the unknown terror. Ignoring them, Kitsune glanced at Shiori’s tear-ridden face.

Then, his smile widened as though to tear both edges of his mouth.

His blood, already hot from the fever, boiled even further.

“—The moment you made a girl cry, you guys lost the right to love another person.”

Right now, Kitsune was furious.

He took another step.

He then stepped in front of the terror-stricken boys. And then, he looked up so that he was peeking at the face of one of them. At a distance where their noses were just about touching, Kitsune’s thinly-smiling figure reflected in the eyes of the man.

The boy he peered at could not take his eyes off of Kitsune. He wanted to avert his gaze, yet the eerie air Kitsune was giving off and his piercing eyes did not allow that.

Despite there being plenty of opportunities to do so, neither the mastermind nor the other boy were able to interject with anything. All three of them had something in common, however—a cold sweat was running down their cheeks.

“How about you? Once you kill me and Shiori-chan is all yours, do you believe the leader over there will give you enough Shiori-chan time to satisfy you? That guy is someone who removed an obstacle like me to get his hands on a woman, you know? Do you think he would share the woman he finally obtained with other men? Well—?”

“N…st…”

“What’s wrong? You look a little pale, are you all right? You’re worrying me, should we go to the infirmary? I’ll nurse you all day long with soothing words now.”

The boy he was looking up at leaked out a voice mixed with unfinished words. He knew that Kistune wasn’t lying. Kitsune’s piercing eyes told him that those words were the real deal.

“Well, not that I’d really like nursing a guy all day.” Kitsune said, taking a step back as though to make the air he was giving off up until now seem like a lie.

That moment, the boy he had been looking at slumped to his knees as if the paralysis had been undone. Though he hadn’t moved much, he breathed in disarrayed breaths like he had forgotten to breathe. His entire body was wrapped in a cold sweat.

No, no, what is that? Is he really the same human?

No, there’s no way he’s the same.

I’m not crazy, he is.

I’m not stumbling, he’s stumbling.

The mastermind was very agitated.

Why is that guy smiling in this situation? We have three people, and he’s just one person! No matter how No matter how I think about it, we’ll definitely be the ones to come out on top! So thenwhat is this terror that makes me feel like I might even die the second I approach him!?

The situation was at a standstill. And yet, the atmosphere in that place had changed to something bizzare from just Kitsune’s words and smiling face.

“So? How about you?”

Hii…?”

Twisting his neck in a strange way, he turned his face to the other boy. Now the target of his gaze, the boy turned pale at once.

As Kitsune slowly approached the boy, his body swaying from side to side, the boy tried to run away.

“A-Ahhh!!”

However, this was the gym warehouse. The only thing waiting for him in the direction he ran to was a wall. Kitsune was by the sole entrance and exit; he was cornered before he ran. The boy put his back on the wall, and his butt slowly fell to the floor.

Once again, Kistune approached until he was right before the boy. He stepped forward with one leg into the space between the boy’s legs, folded his back instead of crouching, and brought his face closer to the other boy so that only his upper body was down.

This time—so he could look down on him.

“Hey, don’t be so scared. Look, I don’t have any weapons in my hands. See? My physical abilities are even much less than yours, and I can’t do anything stupid so long as you have Shiori-chan as a hostage.”

“N…No. …D…Don’t come any…!”

“So, why are you helping him do something like this? Because you’re scared of going against that leader guy over there? Maybe you were bought with money? Friendship, perhaps? Oh, or maybe…is it because you like Shiori-chan?”

“A…Da—…! H-He’s my…friend, so of course I’ll help…!”

“Really now? …Hm?”

At the boy’s words, the corners of Kistune’s mouth raised again. Then, his gaze meandered towards the boy’s waist—he could see a white envelope poking out from the pocket of the boy’s blazer. Kitsune grabbed it and looked at the contents. Three pieces of paper came into view with Yukichi Fukuzawa’s face printed on each—there were three ¥10,000 notes inside.

“Ahaha”, Kitsune laughed as he tossed it behind him.

“Friends, right? …It looks like your friendship can be bought with money” Kitsune spoke, pulling out his wallet from his pocket. He took out five ¥10,000 notes from inside—several month’s worth of food expense he’d been given by his mother.

“Here, I’ll give you this money.”

“…S-Sto…Stop it…”

Kitsune gently slipped the money into the boy’s hand.

“So in exchange…”

“Please… Stop…!”

And, floating a thin grin on his face…

“—I would like you to be my friend!”, he said.

“Noooo!!!!”

Unable to bear it anymore, the boy threw away the money he’d been given, pushed Kitsune away from him, and ran out of the gym warehouse, nearly falling over as he did.

Kitsune picked up the money as he watched him leave, and put the several ¥10,000 notes into his wallet—including the ¥30,000 the boy had had on him.

“He ran away. Did he really not want to become my friend that badly? Or maybe I didn’t give him enough money? Man…the friendship fee sure is high these days. Well, friendship is precious!”

Saying so, Kitsune turned around and looked at the mastermind this time. He spared a glance at the currently-kneeling boy’s appearance, but it seemed like he no longer had the willpower to do anything—he was just hanging his head.

“…B…B-Bastard—! How about this then!?”

The mastermind grabbed onto Shiori so as to not let Kitsune approach, took out a knife that had seemingly been hanging from his waist, and held it at her neck. However, his hand was shaking and his teeth were clattering. It could be surmised that he had been quite cornered mentally.

“Ah…yep, I had a feeling you might do this. You really aren’t a good person.”

“S-So what! Shut up!”

“You put a knife to Shiori-chan…and yet you’re going on and on about how you love her or whatever. Ahahaha—! …Yep, my head’s hurting from how funny that is.”

Kitsune approached step by step with a hand holding his head.

I have a knife to her knew, so why is he getting closer! At his wits end from Kitsune’s weird actions, the mastermind’s breathing became rough. The one doing the cornering should be me!

So then why am I so scared?

I should be the superior one! What is he? Why is he smiling? Why is he getting closer!? Why why WHY WHY!

“You know.”

Hiih…”

“I don’t know what kind of resolution you had…nor what kind of feelings you did this with… Frankly, I’m quite upset, you know? I don’t like troublesome things. I’m a dilligent, healthy, excellent, model student with his morals in check, so I’ll openly face against those non-conforming types such as yourself…but try moving that knife even a centimeter…”

“A-Ah… A-AAAH—!!”

Kitsune slowly moved his right hand and pointed it at the mastermind’s face.

A thin smile appeared on Kitsune’s expression.

From the mastermind’s point of view, the light entering through the gym warehouse’s door was backlit and meant he couldn’t see well. Nevertheless, the eerie pressure Kitsune was giving off was still crushing his heart.

And, his heightened fear made him hallucinate Kitsune’s words as “You’ll regret it for the rest of your life”.

As if he was being given a death sentence.

————A boy’s scream echoed out.

The next moment—a shnk was heard.

A soft sound like that, like when you dropped down onto a bed or struck a cushion.

And then a red color began spreading on the floor of the gym warehouse. The sound of something squirting rang in the air, and Kitsune, Shiori, and the masterminds’s bodies were dyed red.

That sight made everyone understand, even if they didn’t want to, that the room still undergoing the peaceful everyday life act—had changed entirely into a scene not found in everyday life.

And then the silence that followed was broken by someone’s madness.

“Ah…ha…hahaha…hahaha—! It’s over…It’s my win! Seeeerves you right—! Ahahahaha!!” the mastermind laughed.

The boy laughed as though he’d gone mad, his mind possibly crushed by something, and his gaze—as well as Shiori’s wide-open eyes—was fixated on the Kitsune, who had been pierced deeply by the『Knife』under his right chestal region.

His bleeding was severe; so much blood was coming out that it was gushing. And, half of Kitsune’s face was stained red by his own blood.

“……Aah, ow, man that hurts…there’s so much blood coming out.”

But even so, Kitsune wiped away the blood without showing even the slightest hint that he was in pain.

“!? W-Why… Why are you so calm—!?!”

Cough…well, whatever. So, are you satisfied? Your deepest wish came true and I’ve been stabbed by the knife like this.”

Having lost all traces of calmness by this point, the mastermind showed great unrest…yet Kitsune was smiling at him.

He was smiling.

He was sneering.

He wasn’t trying to stop the blood flowing out but was instead staring at the mastermind’s bloodstained face with an eerie thin smile on his. This was clearly not a normal sight.

“A-Ahh…what the hell…you…you’re creepy as hell…a-are you really human…!”

“Me? I told you earlier, but I’m a diligent, healthy highschool student with no special personality other than aiming for the perfect attendance award, you know? Well, from my point of view, you guys are the most monster-like though.”

The mastermind’s spirit had already crumbled. The strange scene he was looking at—no, the strange human he was looking at, made him unable to remain sane.

Kistune tilted his head at him as if to say “can’t you understand?”, and continued.

“Up until now I’ve been severely persecuted, had insults thrown at me, and oppressed the entire time—I had not even a single ally or friend, you see? Then, in the end, my existence was denied! Treated as though I wasn’t there! And when I became a hindrance, you tried to erase my existence itself like this! This world has not once ever kind to me. But I’m calm, you know? To me, this is everyday life, and I’m enjoying it from the bottom of my heart!!”

Kitsune pulled out the knife from his body with a bloody hand.

Buckets of blood gushed out.

Paying no mind to that, Kitsune grabbed the mastermind’s face forcefully with his other hand.

Despite being extremely ill and seriously injured, his grip was strong enough to make one think where is all this power coming from?.

“!……N—!?”

“So how about you enjoy my daily life. I’m sure it will be fun, yeah? You can enjoy a face pierced by a knife. You have no allies, no one can save you, and someday everyone will forget about you and your existence will quickly fade from this world. That’s what you were trying to do to me. See, doesn’t it sound like a lot of fun?”

“S…stop it…sto…I-I’m sorry! I’m sorry…forgive me! I’ll do anything! I will, so…please stop! No, no no no! NO! Someone save meee!!”

Illustration 1

The mastermind desperately apologized to Kitsune with tears streaming down his face as the knife slowly drew closer. He frantically begged, “I don’t want to die!” Again and again he widely shook his head, tears and mucus dripping down his face as he unsightly asked for forgiveness.

But the corners of Kitsune’s mouth rose to form an eerie smile, and he spoke, “What did you do to all those who begged for their lives like that? It’s always been a dream of mine to tell a villain that!”

Shnk, the knife sunk into his tear-stained eyeball.

Immediately after that, the mastermind was led away by the man hanging his head, and they both ran away screaming. The knife was still in his face, and it looked like they were heading to a teacher while blood poured out.

Left behind in the gym warehouse, Kitsune then collapsed into Shiori’s arms. Unlike before, his breathing was rough, and his smiling face was pale and had changed into a weak expression of agony.

Haah…! Haah…! H-Haha…you aren’t injured… right?”

“I’m not important right now! You are!”

“If you’re that energetic…then I guess you’re fine. Rgh, this is already… a hopeless situation…” Kitsune groaned, and the strength in his body faded soon after.

Shiori frantically propped up Kitsune’s body, and laid him down on a mat without worrying about how she was dirtying it with blood. Kitsune’s body had been wounded to the point she had no idea what to do, and blood was flowing from his wound at an abnormal rate. The sight of his red blood spreading out froze Shiori’s thoughts.

Impatient at the fact that she couldn’t do anything and he wasn’t being treated quickly, her tears naturally began to fall.

“Hey now, don’t cry… I came here…to save you, you know? This is where you should…be smiling.”

“There’s no way I could smile when you’re about to die!” Shiori cried out before gasping and taking out her phone, calling an ambulance.

And then, she began performing emergency treatment according to the ambulance crew’s instructions being given over the phone, and continued talking in earnest so that Kistune wouldn’t lose consciousness.

“Kitsune-san…! You can’t die!”

“That’s not very like you… I like you better when you’re smiling energetically…rrgh…!”

“You just can’t die! I still want to stay with you!”

“Ha…haha…”

To be honest, Kistune had already suffered fatal wounds.

By some stroke of bad luck, the knife had gone through his liver—and more importantly, the bleeding was severe. It was unthinkable that he had put up with the pain wracking his body. Furthermore, he had suffered this injury during a high fever—him remaining conscious at this point was an impossibility.

It wouldn’t have been strange for him to be unconscious in critical condition right now.

Saying his chances of surviving were pretty much 0% at this point would be no exaggeration. And Kitsune himself understood that.

“Shiori-chan. I’m…grateful to you. Being with a girl like you in my final moments like this…there’s not a single thing that could make me…happier.”

“Don’t say that it’s your final moments! Let’s go play around more after this! Let’s go somewhere together, and laugh together…so…!”

“…Yeah…so when my injuries heal, let’s go to an amusement park or something together…I’m sure it will…be…fun.” Kitsune said weakly, smiling.

Seeing his smile, Shiori smiled like she usually did as tears streamed down her face.

The sounds of the ambulance were heard from outside.

“Yeah…we’ll definitely go together…so, I’ll punish you if you don’t get better soon, okay?”

“…That’s it…that smile… I like it that smile you…have…”

Emergency crew entered from the gym warehouse’s entrance.

And then, Kitsune was moved away as his consciousness grew faint. Shiori entered the ambulance along with Kitsune. Grabbing hold of the hand Kitsune was straining to stretch out, she earnestly prayed for his safety.

AahI’m fine with only a little more, so let me livewith her

Kistune coughed as his vision grew hazy, and then let go of his consciousness.

———But, his wish to live did not come true.

Shortly after being taken to the hospital, he breathed his last breath. The boy lost his life, and the girl continued crying on and on at the unfulfilled promise deep in her heart.

So yep! This wraps up the teaser for the new LN I have picked up, I Kinda Came to Another World, but Where’s the Way Home? ….Though it feels like more than that from how long it is, huh? Anyway, if you want to read more right now, the contents of this teaser correspond to the prologue of the WN, so feel free to read more of the series here!

Feedback on the quality would be much appreciated, too. I tried to go for what is seen in officially translated novels. That said, I’ll be trying to finish up the rest of the prologue shortly (this is not the full prologue; merely a teaser)! See you then!

If you guys notice anything wrong, please let me know!
